This series of infographics show the four (4) main holidays in Malaysia and what Malaysians do to celebrate them. Other than the famous capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is also known for its multicultural society and its harmonious community.
Muslim holidays are highly prominent in Malaysia. The most important of these is Hari Raya Aidilfitri (or Eid al-Fitr.) It is a festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide marking the end of Ramadan. Malaysian Chinese hold the same festival observed by Chinese around the world, such as Chinese New Year. This holiday lasts for 15 days and ends with Chap Goh Mei. Malaysian Indians of the Hindu faith celebrate Deepavali, otherwise known as the "Festival of Light." Despite most of the festivals being identified with a particular ethnic or religious group, festivities are often participated in by all Malaysians.
